Black Friday - November 27! Special releases.

Record Store Day has coordinated special limited-edition vinyl releases for Black Friday!  We plan to be open 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.  The BURNSIDE store will stay open a til 8 p.m. on Friday and on Small Business Saturday.

These are indeed limited or early release dates (meaning participating stores will have them before anyone else).

We have to comply and keep store capacity at allowed occupancy...but it has not been an issue so far since the latest restrictions.  PLEASE WEAR A MASK and keep your distance from others.

Here are just a few of the releases.  See www.recordstoreday.com for details and the full list.

For the first time ever, SAP--the second studio EP by Alice in Chains--will be released as on vinyl as a stand-alone EP.

Adorable lil' first ever 7" single for the Vince Guaraldi classic "Christmas Time Is Here" from A Charlie Brown Christmas. Includes an alternate take of "Christmas Time Is Here" never before available on vinyl. Pressed on green vinyl.

Seattle Everyday Music update

SEATTLE--The Portland stores have been open for two weeks and Bellingham will open on Friday, but Capitol Hill in Seattle, which we hoped would open this week, will remain shut. As you may be aware, our store sits right in the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ). As such, we just can’t ensure the safety of our employees and customers, and until some type of resolution between the City, the police and the protesters occurs, I don’t see us opening the store. Even if we were guaranteed safety, the barricades and numbers of protestors would make customer access to the store very difficult, if not impossible.

Music and movies are an integral part of your lives, mine included else I wouldn’t have been doing what I have for the last forty plus years, and we appreciate that our customers are eager to support us with their business, but the issues involved in the protests are greater than providing the latest records by the Strokes or Pearl Jam. So we will wait and hope for a peaceful reconciliation to all that is happening. Maybe this time the winds are shifting … and as Mr. Dylan said, “ you don’t need to be a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.”

Scott Kuzma, Owner

Peace.

What's Going On Downtown?

The Burnside store in Portland is cleaning house!  We are going back to occupying just the West side of the building, the space that we had when we first opened in 1995.   Over the next 60 days or so we are moving ALL our CD + DVD inventory to the West side of the 1313 Burnside building with all the vinyl.  Why?  Well, CDs sales are decreasing and there has just been a lot of old titles sitting for too long.  The result of declining CD sales means we have to adjust in order to stay in business.

SO! We are systematically going through the stock of used CDs and curating the good, the bad & the ugly.  We are marking down the price on those ancient titles.  During this transition look for the "closeout" bins that remain on the East side of the store.  They will have signs indicating which bins are the "last chance" for those CDs.

Don't panic.  We realize it looks like we are getting rid of everything, but really, what we are getting rid of are titles that have sat around for years. What you will find going forward is a cleaner, organized stock of titles.

It's a bit of a mess right now so bear with us... and meantime we're happy to help you find what you need.

Thanks for your patience during the transition.
